The Next Mars Sun Synodic Cycle, Charts and Maps

The New Mars/Sun Synodic Cycle

Towards the end of 2023, the seeding of the next Mars /Sun cycle begins at 26° Scorpio on Nov 18th, 2023. It is the moment when Mars is transiting behind the Sun from our perspective, with Mars moving at its fastest pace at 2/3 the speed of the Sun.

As the orbit of Mars is slightly irregular, for the Mars Sun synod to return to the same place of the zodiac, it can be anywhere from 15 to 17 years. The last Mars Sun conjunction, was in Libra @ 15°05’ on OCT 8 2021, a cycle that began with Mars in a Venus ruled sign. Within this cycle, on Feb 2022 the War in Ukraine began and continues, and now as we get to the end of the current cycle, another War rages in Israel and Gaza, where negotiations, are anything but peaceful. It is interesting to also note that the Mars Sun cycle before this one, seeded @ 9° Virgo, on September 2nd, 2019, together with Venus and Mercury, and soon after the Covid Virus took over the world.

Examining the cycle closer I also found that all Mars, Sun conjunctions are indeed parallel as well, the same distance from the equator. within 1°, accentuating the significance of their coming together in 2 ways not just one, every time. Of note Jupiter Sun conjunctions will do the same when they come together, yet Venus won’t.

At this time as well, the Planetary Nodes of MARS are nearby at 22° Scorpio with Mars having crossed its South Node just prior on November the 8th. The North Node of Mars at this time will be @ 8° Taurus conjunct Jupiter. How appropriate for an ongoing religious, land ownership war, highly justified by both sides and perspectives.

How may we read a conjunction now seeding off in Scorpio. The last Mars /Sun conjunction to seed in Scorpio was 32 years ago, in 1991, as in 2006, 17 years ago, the conjunction happened on the brink of Libra at 29°43.

To look back to Nov 1991 to see what was happening, we find the beginnings of the fall of the soviet Union, where repressed nations took back their freedom and independence from years of being ruled by the Soviet Regime. The time before was 1959, at 5° Scorpio, 32 years prior, also skipping that Scorpio beat with a conjunction at 2° Sagittarius instead in 1976.

In 1959 and over the next 2 years of significance is we saw further decolonisation of Africa and the formation of the Republic of South Africa (1961). In the prior conjunction, this time only 15 years prior (the rare occurrence) 1944 @ 22° Scorpio, was when the Soviets advanced into Germany and Hitler receded to his bunker, never to return. It was a turning point for the Allies.

It would seem the Mars in Scorpio cycle is a definite circuit breaker, and let’s trust some necessary circuits of control will be broken this time. Perhaps not so unusual to see this, as Mars in Scorpio is in his home sign, with the transformative Pluto connection rumbling away below. Traditional astrologers would say Mars is weakened by the Sun at this time, combust, not able to act. Let’s see how these next 26 months pans out, with the next starting on January 9th, 2026, @ 19° Capricorn. This conjunction of Mars Sun will happen at the same time as a Venus Star Point 1 day before, meaning Venus and Mars seed new cycles with the Sun very closely together.

Mars /Sun Conjunctions Scorpio
1912 - 12°18 Scorpio
1944 - 22° 16' Scorpio
1959 - 05°53' Scorpio
1991 - 15°27' Scorpio
2023- 25° 36' Scorpio
2038 - 8°57 Scorpio (Antares)

The seeding of all synods Sun/Planet conjunctions are always something to watch, even in Astro Maps. Looking at the Astro Map for the 2O19 conjunction @ 9° Virgo , we can see the Mars Sun line, fittingly go right through Wuhan, where Covid spawned from, and Washington DC the capital if USA, which we could say led the world in how to deal with the “Pandemic”, which in-turn was highly influenced by Big Pharma. See charts 1 and 2

I went further back and found the Mars/Sun conjunction in Scorpio 1991 went straight thru Moscow, as the USSR crumbled.

So let’s examine the chart for the next Mars/Sun seeding. It’s quite power packed as we see Mars and Sun align with a Moon/Pluto conjunction by sextile, Uranus by opposition and Neptune by trine. A signature that involves the masses. Pluto and Moon square the nodal axis, we are all pivoting, trying to shift our ways. The Sun and Mars are also conjunct Ceres. Ceres as we know is a goddess associated with grief and loss, the food supply chain and also strikes and the stand for democracy. As we know Mars can’t be seen at this time, yet in home sign of Scorpio and trine to Neptune, we may envisage much being done behind the scenes that we will maybe hear about later, or the usual things we will never know. The Mars/ Sun conjunction is also the midpoint of Saturn and Uranus, showing the ongoing difficulty in breaking from old patterns to solve current dilemmas and implementing the new ways forward.

On the above Astro Map, are marked the Mars/Sun conjunctions on the angles, follow the line (zoom in) to see hotspots. We can see Mars/ Sun/Ceres on the MC line through the east of India and into western China and Mongolia, on the IC line through central America, up through to the Great Lakes and then rising through Europe and Kyiv, and over to Moscow, then setting through the middle of the Pacific ocean. Also note the crossing points with the Moon and Pluto.

Interestingly I found something astronomers say about a Mars /Sun outer conjunction, that is worth sharing here. ”Because Mars and Earth will be on opposite sides of the Sun, a period known as Mars solar conjunction. The Sun expels hot, ionized gas from its corona, which extends far into space. During solar conjunction, this gas can interfere with radio signals when engineers try to communicate with spacecraft on Mars, corrupting commands and resulting in unexpected behaviour from our deep space explorers. when Mars disappears far enough behind the Sun's corona that there's increased risk of radio interference”.

It is interesting to think about the Mars Solar conjunction, combust the Sun as we call it, as part of our own lives? It may feel like a temporary glitch where Mars energy struggles to get through. Yet think about what it maybe be igniting for you! Consider the last few conjunctions and where they seeded , where they ended and began again in your astrology chart. Where was that vital spirit reignited or renewed? How does it look this time? Even look back to 1991, and 1959 if you are old enough.

As I look back at the last conjunction in Scorpio in 1991, I find a deeply meaningful connection. The conjunction fell in my 12th house conjunct Neptune. At this time I became pregnant with my 1st child, while at the same time, Lithuania (the homeland of my parents and grandparents as well as my husband’s) became the first nation to declare independence from the Soviet Union. Growing up we never thought Lithuania would ever be free again.

Let as believe that things will change!
