Drive to Transcend: Ayrton Senna’s Sonic Astrology Effect

In the moment of immense opening, the ocean of transcendence washed through a tunnel, like an acoustic channel uplifting the monaural vessel to a greater motion, a greater reality revealed in an unexpected moment of transcendence. It required only trust and courage to move with the flow, for that day the greater consciousness moved through the wavelengths, waiting at the passage for a driver to move to the sound.

The low grounding rumble of an engine at thousands of revolutions per minute vibrates into the body like a deep gamma wave prayer... penetrating directly through the seat and reaching into the skin, the inner landscapes, the cells, the bones. The very frequency of a racing car is essentially a somatic embrace -a resonant current bypassing the distracted mind to reach directly into the vagus nerve, to reach the path illuminated instinctively.

Moment of Astrology - Skan and the Spirit in Motion

Instinctively, like the Native American First Nation feel Skan, we intuit a shift of current. We know it with every fibre wanting to move when it aligns with the heart and soul. Without an overriding thought or disruption of outside expectations, here comes a moment of opening. Focus. This is essential within the moment.

The Lakota and various Native American tribes speak of Skan - the sky-blue breath of the ineffable Great Spirit in absolute fluid motion. One with the force, he is the ocean, Skan moves in rhythm with nature, in resonance with love, like a heartbeat. The voice of love in the heart makes all things grow and move. It is an unseen current that ignites us to surrender our frantic control over things and listen to the voice of instinct. When we walk the path aligned with this vaster higher frequency, our actions flow directly from our core essence.

Transposing Skan into Western Astrology we hear Mars. The momentum, the drive, putting into motion our heart and choosing in integrity with instinct and true love in the heart.

Has Senna felt the moment coming, the momentum already returning [1] him to Know somewhere deep within that he will peak in some holographic moment of transcendence that he came to experience in this earthly incarnation?

Senna’s Spirit in Motion

Senna’s drive, his Spirit envisioned in motion in the light of a Sea Goat star would have recently returned with an echo of the otherworldly wavelengths – awakened instinct to listen and attuned much to the streams of consciousness pouring through tone – opening him to a voice of nature within all things and rhythm of transcendence - for him accessed through motion.

The sound that moves in rhythm with the multiverse bypasses the analytical mind.

Sometimes awakening as well as healing is restoring rhythm, coherence and resonance. Despite letting go of structure the body in this state begins to feel safe again through coherent vibration, it simply feels right because we move with the flow, and reality moves beyond fata morgana Steiner spoke about in his works – it embodies alignment with illuminations of what truly aligns with our spirit in motion and heart.

The Core Vibration

At 13:28 local time in Monaco on 14 May 1988 Ayrton Senna took to the sky revving the tones of his McLaren V6 engine in the acoustic soundscape of a tunnel, waiting for him in the culminating Sun like a portal opening to some constellation of otherworldly consciousness.

Sonically speaking the droning sound of the car engine overtakes the frantic momentum of the outer world, dissolving it into an inner pulse of what sound healers call the gamma brainwave entrainment. Here, the snug where the driver sits becomes an exciting acoustic cradle! A cradle holding him in an absolute divine presence in between the worlds, stars, and the meditative bardos of each lap- resting at the still, healing centre of a powerful, turning world. As the car breaks into the darkness of the Monaco tunnel, the concrete walls act as an ancient sound chamber, a temple of a passage, ricocheting the engine’s roar and reflecting it back into the cockpit. Imagine how it creates an intensely dense echoing chamber of sound that completely envelops the cockpit, inducing an acute sensory bath. So is a racing driver basically experiencing a continuous, full body binaural beat?? Imagine hearing the vibrating frequencies filling the space around you, holding you like in a hyper jump through some sonic stargate.

On another note, how fascinating to transpose the frequency of a Honda V6 engine into Gamma waves - where, much like a piano exploring octaves, the engine becomes an instrument cascading down the musical scale into healing awakening frequencies so that as Senna revved the engine and the tunnel acoustics echoed wavelengths of transcendence he was driven through a portal of unity consciousness and absolute love. Moment of Astrology – the Threshold of Sonic Consciousness

Some kind of awakening was lifting over Monaco, lifting all up from the darkness into a white hole of illumination, and in an impending way to put a new vessel to the change of rhythm, creating a reality from a heart-based fecund place where rhtythm and instinct are one. Here on the horizon an opportunity to drive to transcend - indeed a possibility to move beyond the commercial and corruption surrounding the racing industry - the sheer exploration of what we truly are about. The Peak

Senna reached the peak in the tunnel at 13:28 and with the culminating Sun as the pit lane monitors flashed the significant 1:23.998 – peaking in flow state inside Senna’s McLaren [4]. Within that tunnel a different sky opened and the raw sonorous 500 Hz root pitch of the Honda engine while brought into the attention of Now was the pure energy of Spirit in motion crossing a threshold of death and love [5], something opened uplifting a mechanical roar into an expansive, oceanic chant. The engine, a revving we hear like a pump revving life, is heating up to move. Izrat Inayat Khan speaks of rhythm as life disguised in motion, and the breaking of rhythm a disease. There is rhythm in your heart, attuned to the rhythm of nature, it pulsates the blood into your veils carrying oxygen - for heart knows how to unite all - love moves us in rhythm of all that exists to feel aligned, love from heart, the heartbeat.

The Senna Effect

How otherworldly is the "Senna Effect" - a transition he reached in a bardo drivers focused on the higher vibration of the drive might touch.. Do you remember his words after the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix qualifying lap-Ayrton Senna spoke openly of transcending consciousness, essentially touching directly something vaster and divine. Did you also know that outside this private sanctuary of sound, the television cameras missed his run entirely! Yet the timing screens recorded a statistically impossible lap of 1:23.998. He had outqualified his teammate by a staggering 1.427 seconds. It was a margin so supernatural it left Alain Prost with a ghostly look of utter disbelief upon his face staring at a gap with disbelief.

But inside the car, Senna experienced something that moved him beyond the material possessions, record-breaks and the ego driven competition – it has all dissolved and liberated himbecause something greater has manifersted, something beyond belief, and it kept shifted his consciousness forever.

“I was already on pole... and I kept going. Suddenly I was nearly two seconds faster than anybody else, including my teammate with the same car... That day I suddenly realised that I was no longer driving the car consciously.

I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension. It was like I was in a tunnel. Not only the tunnel under the hotel, but the whole circuit was a tunnel for me.”

Beyond the Silencer and the Distractive Mind

Dissolved by the frequency of the engine and penetrated body Senna was awakened from the illusion of ego reality, knowing that rather than the mind it is the instinct, the Skan in motion that drives illumination. When the mind stops overthinking-the body instinctually moves.

What happens when we don’t overthink but trust the rhythm and knowing?

Yet the sacred architecture of such a sonic bardo is easily shattered by the interference of the voices demanding attention. Within twenty four hours, during the race on Sunday, Senna had emerged into that very same transcendental stream of consciousness in rhythm that instinctively “gone to light speed” with nearly a minute ahead of Prost. But from the outside it terrified the rational minds. Watching the gap widen to an “unnecessary, illogical distance” McLaren team principal Ron Dennis intervened, using the radio to project an externally interfering noise- demanding attention by radio waves. Senna was shouted at to slow down, to revert to the expected racing speeds.

Just as the local midheaven moved over Senna's Mars/Chiron midpoint, fascinatingly - into the moment of now was brought that very moment of moving beyond the body, of hearing some otherworldly music touching like medicine the human instinctively transcending in motion - and precisely then he hit into the barrier, the final speedbump closing the portal of tone.

What happened for Senna was an abrupt acoustic shock that essentially broke him out of the momentum of the monaural entrainment and snapped him back into his thinking mind. The flow was disrupted and the sound crashed as has his car bumped into the barrier just moments later. He climbed out of the wreckage completely disorientated and in shock simply walked away to his home escaping the cacophony that disrupted his paradise flow.

The wisdom of this moment is essentially to move with the flow rather than to the lower vibrational disruptions, competition, aggression, material goals, or outer noise. When the flow opens, old systems often answer with resistance. As the light grows stronger, distractions, false errands, and competing demands seem to rise, inviting us away from our own Skan in rhythm with the flow.

Our crashes begin when we allow the external voice of expectation to drown out the Knowing in the heart. How do you know what is true and aligned? Let go of thought and listen to your instinct, and the song that calls your heart to be exactly where you came into this life to move and be. Right here, right Now.

The Acoustic Rebirth and the Drive to Transcend

In the eras that followed Senna’s era and that of the Honda V6 engine the sport began to build walls against its own astro sonic divinity. The regulations of the increasingly commercial F1 gradually introduced heavy mechanical constraints like turbo restrictors and massive exhaust silencers - which essentially choked the engine's original visceral tone, the massive sound and diminishing it to a muted sanitised hum that left the human spirit in stalemate. But there is always hope – as Formula 1 is deliberately returning to the sacred tone with the rollout of the highly anticipated 2026 engines. We may as well very soon hear once more the loud acoustic wavelengths for the current generation of drivers to be reattuned to the natural rhythm and Knowing – and rather than drive to survive –once more awaken the drive to transcend.

[3] With thanks to my father JP for the mechanical engine calculations - when we take this specific Honda MP4/4 V6 engine sound of 10,000 RPM and divide by sixty seconds - we receive a frequency of 166,66 Hz. Because this engine has six cylinders it fires three times per every revolution - multiplying this by three offers us 500 Hz as the root frequency of the engine which when moved down in four octaves, gives us 31.25 Hz within the healing Gamma wave spectrum – this is where the state of utter oneness happens where the ego dissolves, the competition vanishes, and the soul experiences an out of body transcendece flow state as Senna did in the Monaco tunnel.
