They Came Flying From Far Away

The New Moon in Fixed Air on the 21^st of January 2023

It may seem paradoxical but in truth the path to freedom of expression, the way ‘out’, is ‘in’! Yet to descend ‘in’ is to connect ‘beyond’, places so far away that it seems pure fantasy to those whose realities are deeply embedded with but one place – here. But to enable true and original growth to spread its wings and find horizons that liberate, it is the ability to dive into the refreshing and inspiring celestial waters above, mingled with swimming in the deep and mysterious waters that permeate every facet of this blue world that frees up consciousness to be bathed in those ethereal dew bearing clouds.

Soaked to the core in this invisible rain, the Divine is infused into the very being of humanity, liberating the breath of the Word from the shackles that bind it from the narrow pulpit of evangelical conformity. And so the stories that they tell are often dismissed because they seem so distant, so removed and so far away from the concerns of the everyday, that the raconteur is left feeling like a stranger in their own world, an alien who came flying in from far away.

 

Solo Flight

It is one of the qualities that I most respect and value of those who have chosen to actively learnt to fly along the path of in an out. They can see places beyond my own land. They have found new horizons beneath the wings that they have donned. And they have opened up my world to facilitate the broadening of my awareness.

In astrology, this quality is called Fixed Air, or the path of the Aquarian, a misunderstood term now synonymous with all that is weird, strange, independent, aloof and humane. And yet it is truly a path that traverses between the life giving waters of consciousness, bathing the world in the mysterious sounds of the deep mysterious waters. It is an inner path, but inner does not necessarily mean down. The element of Air, which is infused into this ‘sign’, is not visible. It is experienced but intangible. Air is breath; it is sound; it is voice, and it is the alpha and omega of our existence.

Air is flight and to be airy, is to spread your wings and to roam unimpeded by the concerns of the ground, soaring high into the skies to mingle with the clouds, those messengers of imagination that gently float in the waters above us.

The term fixed is known as being solitary, as you turn inwards, forsaking the world around you and descend inwards to better know yourself and your own mind. Yet, the inner landscape cannot be contained by the laws of nature and the laws of humanity. That landscape is defined by the boundaries of your own mind, or those of your awareness. It is to this path that the Fixed Air quality explores – the vastness of the inner landscape, a world that only you can create.

Different tongue

They may speak strangely, but if you truly listen to what is being transmitted, it is pure creative expression. It is a language that rides high on the breezy plumes of the loftiest illuminations, flying beneath the Sun that never sets. It is a dialect whose tone dissolves the perimeters of all that is safe and secure, opening the sequential to the non-linear; the analytical to the experiential; and the isolated to the holistic. It is a language that billows universal truth, and once ‘decoded’ uplifts consciousness to a higher, broader way of being.

Taking to the wing, higher and higher, deeper and deeper you can fly. And what a feeling to fly over mountains, forests and seas, to go anywhere that you please and to feel the lack of limits to what you can feel and perceive? Those questions you have can be answered by gliding in the waters above, soaking yourself in the imagination that pours down from above, a place that is only accessed by turning in.

Are you dreaming or is it all real? Just because it is happening within, does not make it any less real than the world that you can physically touch. It may encourage a feeling of coming from far away, to be a stranger amongst friends, but that does not negate the purity of the vision that you have accessed. Your most elevated illuminations will find ground eventually, just as any majestic eagle must land having spent time gliding high above the earth symbolising the ascension of the spirit from the Prima Materia. In other words when understanding separates from emotion, it is meaningless. When this happens, you need to take wing and can ascend into the ether within, thereby finding meaning and purpose.

 

The New Moon in Aquarius

As the Sun and Moon once again conjoin within the sign of Fixed Air on the 21^st of January 2023, a moment in consciousness to actively and consciously replenish your personal relationship with this component in your consciousness arises. Fixed Air is your ability to travel afar by exploring the unimpeded landscapes within and beyond. Look to the gift that those actively imbued with this quality offer you – their originality, their insight, their bold and adventurous exploratory nature. Ask yourself, why have you brought them into your world?

These avian water bearers are messengers of knowledge from a deeper consciousness that enables you to open your own wings and to remember how to fly beyond the safe and secure perimeters that you have carefully crafted. Yes, their alien presence can be unsettling. But listen to the deeper message that is on offer. It is to encourage you to truly express your breath, knowing that you carry the particle of Divinity that makes you utterly unique, yet also connected to the Word.

Reflection

During the time leading up to this New Moon, it would be useful to reflect on the ways that you do not give yourself permission not to express your unique breath. What are you gaining from keeping it all in? What have you got to lose by unfurling your wings and gliding in the waters of inspiration above? You have the courage to take flight. It is something that your Fixed Air brethren do on a regular basis. And it exists within you. It is merely a matter of dreaming that you are the eagle and that you can spread your wings and fly high.
