Something to Talk About: Mars in Gemini, 31 March – 15 May, 2019

The Cosmic Warrior enters the sign of the twins on the last day of March this year, beginning a six-week stay that will have us expressing and asserting ourselves verbally. Words can get hot with Mars in Gemini, and there can be a tendency to speak before thinking – especially if we believe we have really good point. With the lineup of planets in Capricorn and Aries over this period of time, it might seem that Mars is going to miss the action, but in fact he’s going to be quite busy. In April, Ceres, Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn all station to retrograde, and Mars will be aspecting them all.

Heralding Changes: Mars in Taurus, 14 February to 31 March, 2019

Mars likes to lead the way – he rules the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, after all. And after a very busy time in his home sign that included a dynamic meeting with Uranus at 29 degrees, he strides into Taurus on 14 February 2019. Mars in Taurus is sensual, practical, and persistent – sometimes persistent to the point of stubbornness. He gets us to focus on the material world, and can encourage us to be too rapacious in our enjoyment of it – he’s no environmentalist.

As the ancient god of agriculture, Saturn symbolises the harvest. The essence of Saturn is reflected in the concept that effort equals reward; that you reap what you sow. This creates an often overlooked yet empowering side to Saturn. You get to choose what you do, how you do it and to what standard.

Your choices ultimately create your future as they become the foundation upon which you build your life. In this way Saturn shows how your choices, like the things you take responsibility for, can pave the way for success.

The Last Hurrah of 2018: Mars in Pisces, 15 November – 31 December 2018

After seven months in airy Aquarius, Mars dives into the Piscean waters on 15 November. He swims towards the end of the zodiac as we wade towards the end of the year.
A dual sign that encompasses both yin and yang, Pisces often signals extremes. Known for its spiritual side, Pisces can also be excessively materialistic. Recognized as sensitive and compassionate, Pisces can also be ruthless and uncompromising.

Tilting at Windmills: Mars in Pisces (19 December, 2016 to 28 January, 2017)

Pisces is a dual sign and the last sign of the zodiac. It can bring us to extremes – hopelessness and infinite possibility vie for our commitment. Mars is an engine, and in Pisces it’s a formula-one racing car breaking speed records – and stalling unexpectedly.

With Mars in Pisces, we’ll be tempted to go to extremes in all areas of life, from politics to sexuality. It’s an intense energy that can push us forward at top speed, only to realize that we’re lost.
