Decumbiture is a form of Horary, where the chart is cast for when a person “takes to their bed”. In other words, the time when someone falls ill. A decumbiture chart can inform the astrologer of whether the illness or disease is acute or chronic, along with what is causing the disease or illness, likelihood of recovery, and what the best course of treatment could be. In astrology, a decan is the subdivision of a sign. In order to give fuller interpretation to the Zodiac Signs, ancient astrologers subdivided each Sign into periods of approximately ten days. A decan can be broken into further 4 little segments that are called Dwads or Duads. Dwad and duad are short for dwadasamsa. A dwad is 1/12 of a zodiacal sign, that is, 2� degrees of arc. This forms a completely new birth chart that will give an explanation of the psychological whys. Each duad can be converted into a 30 degree sign. For example the duad of your rising sign will colour the quality of your rising sign. The duad shows your instinctual attraction towards other people and situation.
