Talking Points: Mars in Gemini (21 April to 4 June, 2017)

/
On 21st April, Mars begins six weeks in Gemini, where he encourages us to assert ourselves verbally. Barbed words and clever turns of phrase are common when the Cosmic Warrior is in Gemini, a placement that calls to mind courtroom drama, acerbic standup comedy, and biting satire. Fiery political rhetoric is likely – and in the sign of the twins Mars doesn’t mind amplifying both sides of a debate. Yet Mars in Gemini isn’t only verbal. Mars is the planet of action, and he moves quickly in Mercury’s sign (although perhaps a bit less quickly for a while

Saturn retrograde 28°- 21° Sagittarius April 6th - Aug 25th

/
Saturn retrogrades on April 6th 2017 at 6:06 am UTC at the 28th degree of Sagittarius and emerges station direct on August 25th 2017 at Sagittarius 21. We have a lot of work to do during these four months and here are some thoughts to assist in our journey. Let’s begin with Saturn in Sagittarius. Since September of 2015 Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius has offered us the opportunity to consider and name our beliefs, philosophies and spiritual leanings. As the great energy of boundaries and definitions, Saturn rules limits, rules, and structure. Life’s meaning is based upon whatever choices we consider to be true fed by the Gemini axis of logic, research and facts. My definition of what is true to me (Sagittarius) is based upon whatever information (Gemini) I have at my disposal.

Birthing the New Reality - Saturn at Galactic Centre

/
Saturn at the Galactic Centre during 2017 makes the times we are living in ever more more interesting. As a relatively new area of exploration and a new concept for astrologers, after exploring the images and the symbols of such a potent energy and planets in this area in the past, I can certainly see merit in using The Galactic Centre as a representation of not only being pulled into something larger than life, but also as a conduit to a great symbol of a most creative force in that exists in oneself and in our collective destiny.

Chiron and healing Spirit

/
The energy of Chiron, the healer-redeemer, is in the air. I find this a most fascinating subject when thinking of humanity and our ongoing struggle to find peace, harmony and health. Life is such a paradox of tears and ecstasy, and embodying this conflict is the story of the Centaur. Chiron was the product of a rape and abandoned by his parents he had to set out alone to find his true power, until one day he got struck by an arrow dipped in poison that kept him in excruciating pain until his release into death.

Aiming to Please: Mars in Taurus (9 March to 21 April, 2017)

/
Mars leaves his home sign of Aries for Venus’ sign of Taurus on 9 March, ushering about six weeks of earthy energy. In the sign of the bull, Mars is just as passionate as ever, but his attention is directed towards the senses, material concerns, and – to an extent – pleasure. Taurus is certainly a rather sexual placement for the Cosmic Warrior, and this time around it coincides closely with Venus’ retrograde,

Jupiter retrograde- Feb - June 2017 - 23°-13° Libra

/
Jupiter in Libra shifts into retrograde motion on Monday February 6, 2017 at 6:52 am UTC, beginning its’ five months’ long trek into the realm of redoing, reconnecting and realignment. It’s time to explore our beliefs (Jupiter) about relationships (Libra) and as with anything in astrology…so much more. The sabian symbol for the Jupiter retrograde at 23 degrees of Libra is the `third wing on the left side of a butterfly.’ An extra wing on the delicate butterfly may look intriguing and even beautiful, but the lopsided appendage would handicap flight.

Mars in Aries : 28 Jan- March 9th, Immediate Action Required.

/
As January comes to a close, Mars reaches his home sign of Aries. After six weeks of swimming through the emotional and sometimes draining waters of Pisces (draining for Mars, at least), the Cosmic Warrior dries out and warms himself by the fire of his home sign.

Venus in Pisces: Addicted to Love 3 January - 3 February, 2017

/
Venus, the planet we most associate with relationship and love, spends four weeks in Pisces this year. As we expect with the sign of the fish, things can go to extremes - and move in several directions at once. Pisces is considered the exaltation of Venus, the sign in which her energies are best expressed. Venus in Pisces is more about agape, or compassionate, universal love, than it is about eros, or personal, erotic love. Venus in Pisces may be more inclined to wear a nun’s wimple than a beauty crown, more likely to offer alms to the poor than her arms in an embrace. With Mars in Pisces, we’ll be tempted to go to extremes in all areas of life, from politics to sexuality. It’s an intense energy that can push us forward at top speed, only to realize that we’re lost.

The Sacred Dance of: Venus and Mars

/
The heavenly dance of Venus and Mars mirrors the nature of personal relationships. Mars must venture out into the world on his hero’s quest alone, and Venus cannot go where Mars goes, she must stay within 48 degrees of the Sun; just as traditionally men went out hunting or to work, and women stayed at home cooking, looking after the children, keeping the home fires burning.

Tilting at Windmills: Mars in Pisces (19 December, 2016 to 28 January, 2017)

/
Pisces is a dual sign and the last sign of the zodiac. It can bring us to extremes – hopelessness and infinite possibility vie for our commitment. Mars is an engine, and in Pisces it’s a formula-one racing car breaking speed records – and stalling unexpectedly. With Mars in Pisces, we’ll be tempted to go to extremes in all areas of life, from politics to sexuality. It’s an intense energy that can push us forward at top speed, only to realize that we’re lost.

The Free-Thinker: Mars in Aquarius (9 November – 19 December, 2016)

/
Mars makes a quick trip through Aquarius this November and December, spending not quite six weeks in the sign we associate with rationality, freedom, and our highest goals. In the sign of the Water Bearer, Mars is ready to take up the sword to fight for or defend ideals - but not necessarily your ideals. Mars can be a warrior for any side of an issue, and the Aquarian energy can manifest at extremes of the right or left.

Mars in Capricorn- Cosmic Construction Company

/
After spending virtually all of 2016 shuttling between playing defense in Scorpio and leading crusades in Sagittarius, Mars moves into Capricorn on 27 September for a short stay in the sign of his exaltation. In Saturn’s home sign, Mars’ energy is thought to be put to good use in service to a higher cause. The trick, of course, is to make sure the good use is really good.

Neptune Direct: Nov 20th 2016 till June 16th 2017

/
Neptune, the god of the sea, stations direct on Saturday November 19, 2016, 9 degrees of Pisces at 11:39 pm EST. Time to reconnect with our inner intuitive self, our dreams, our divinity and the `namaste’ presence. It’s time to bring forward the dreams of June which went `underground’ when Neptune retrograde. It’s time to affirm how we fit into the `bigger picture.’

Jupiter in Libra: Sept 9th 2016 to Oct 10th 2017

/
As Jupiter enters Libra in September for his once in 12-year visit, the global scene has rarely been in such a state of ‘high tension’! Brexit has revealed a new level of anti-establishment sentiment fuelling the revolutionary urge for change, the force underpinning the 2010’s, as the USA heads toward elections in the midst of anger, confusion & disillusionment, and global terror events are escalating.

Saturn square Neptune: Shape Shifting, Letting Go and Manifestation

/
Things you thought would last forever may slip from your grasp, while other dreams you never dared hope for may suddenly arrive. These changes and transitions between real life and the world of your imagination are triggered by the dynamic square angle between Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. This aspect defines the next 12 months. It’s the biggest aspect of 2015, and will influence us well into 2016.

Jupiter in Libra: Cycles

/
The history of Jupiter in Libra offers us some key moments in our current story with the formation of the EEC in 1957, which then morphed into the EU in 1993 with the Euro currency - (also first World Trade Centre bombing). Then 2004 saw the enlargement of NATO as the EU incorporated most of former Eastern Bloc. During the past 12 years we’ve had the first GFC in 2008, with subsequent controls from central banks who offered massive loans to lesser EU members with debt they could never repay.

Believe it or Not - Mars in Sagittarius August 2 - September 27 2016

/
Having turned direct on June 29th after ten weeks of retrograding, Mars re-enters Sagittarius on 2 August. In the sign of the archer, Mars is ready to fight for truth and justice – variously defined according to your social, political, philosophical, or religious address. Mars can certainly bring out the more polarized side of Sagittarius, a sign that can be flexible as it searches for truth but somewhat dogmatic when it believes it’s found it. Expect Mars to turn up the heat on social and political debates – although the temperature is already pretty hot in most quarters.

Forward March! – Mars Ends His Retrograde

/
After ten weeks of doing the backstroke through the murky waters of Scorpio, Mars ended his retrograde on June 29th and resumed direct motion. As July begins, the Cosmic Warrior is moving forward, but slowly, and some of the headaches and delays associated with the retrograde may persist through at least the first half of July. While we’re probably eager to get going with many things

Transit of Mercury 19° Taurus -eclipse May 6th 2016

/
As both Mercury & Venus are between us (earth) and the Sun, they pass between us periodically creating ‘eclipses’. Because they are so small they don’t block the Sun’s light so are not generally noticed down here on Earth. But they are considered quite ‘rare’ and when you check the above dates of previous Mercury eclipses the historical associations are very powerful in terms of social change.

Jupiter- Saturn Squares of 2016

/
The Jupiter- Saturn squares of 2016 offer us an opportunity to finally fine tune the application of our beliefs and philosophies to our work, our daily habits, and to our self care. It's a clarion call to `walk our talk,' even if that walk feels as though we are navigating a tightrope. This is a call to action to get serious (Saturn) about what we say is our highest purpose ( Jupiter). It's time to get to work; reformat, restructure and create habits which are reflective of our deeply held beliefs.

Mercury Retrograde of April/ May 2016

/
Mercury is about to retrograde yet again, this time for the second of three loops in 2016 and I am sure that you eagerly anticipating more warnings concerning signing documents; losing keys; data disappearing into the cloud; electricity outages; communications mishaps and delays? But is the purpose of this thrice annual cycle to frustrate and annoy you? Is it solely about negative things happening?

Pluto in Capricorn- The end of the World as we know it!

/
Lord of the Underworld, Pluto is the repository of the secrets of life and death. The Underworld is a dark place; the fount of human depravity; cruelty, torture, murder, greed, evil and violence. Its power is intense and relentless. The planet named for this dark entity travels the zodiac in a slow elliptical orbit of 248 years, spending anywhere from 13 to 30 years in each sign of the zodiac. On 26 January 2008 Pluto leaves Sagittarius and crosses a pivotal threshold moving into Capricorn. This is an epic time that portents dramatic upheaval.

Retreat! – Mars Retrograde in Sagittarius and Scorpio

/
March – September 2016 retrograde dates 17th April 9° Sagittarius – 29th June 23 ° Scorpio Every two years or so, Mars retrogrades for about ten weeks. As a result, one or two signs get an extended visit from the Cosmic Warrior. With a two-year orbit, we’d expect Mars to spend about two months in each sign – and he generally does. Thanks to his retrograde, however, Mars will be traversing Scorpio and Sagittarius for nearly nine months in 2016.
