With what do you feed your mind?

Not too difficult a question to answer, after all what engages your mind is on your book shelves, in your search engine and social media history, and within the sorts of conversations that normally circulate around you.

However, does that reading material reflect the way in which you interact with people or are you living incongruently – living an ideal in your head but not living it when under pressure/ when in the presence of unkindness/ when in the presence of imposing personalities/ when in the presence of Sheep…

As you think so shall you be

Seven little words that nicely sum up one of twelve dimensions of your consciousness: the realm of Fixed Air, or more commonly known as the zodiacal sign of Aquarius, a realm in consciousness illuminated by Sol on the 20th January and re-ignited on the 24th January during the forthcoming lunation. The element of Air concerns your breath and the quality of the way that you literally breathe in all that the Earth Plane offers you. Fixity means an energetic state that is internal and inward towards the Self looking. Because of the existence of Fixed Air, or Aquarius, not only can you think for yourself but you also have the ability to anchor those ideals within your soul; to hold steadfast those truths that resonate for whatever soul reason; and to question the origin of where those thoughts arise.

Just remember that you were born without a mental program. That comes later when as a child you organically mastered language and began to think. At that moment, you became submissive to your mind. If you don’t believe me that you came from a place of innocence, of acceptance, of non-judgement, of non-discrimination, of deep creativity, of making things happen, of utter love just observe the nature of a child. They are naturally kind and they love to be loved. They feel every emotion, but do not hold onto those emotions, letting them come and go quickly. If they feel hurt they get over it. If they feel afraid, they grow out of it. Inherently curious and open minded, they want to know everything about everything, learning the names of objects, of people and learning a language. It is only then that a million opinions go into their heads! It is only then that their own thoughts start to get influenced by the thoughts of others.

It is your thoughts that divide what is real. Little kids tend to live a state of happiness. Yet fear, hatred and criticism have a massive influence on them, eventually turning their appetite for nectar into a taste for the kind of food everyone else is eating. This ‘processed’, or conditioned, food is not natural but it looks normal. What’s more, everyone is doing it, so it must be okay.  Yet, as they eat this poison, their bodies react emotionally. As a child, hears horrible things, you can literally see their body produce anger. As they mirror their world, it is as if they say, ‘Well, other people are eating anger and they really like it. I guess I will eat it too.’ So this anger (or fear) has to be produced over and over, to keep them fed.

And then there is guilt, especially if you are catholic Irish!! And it tastes so good after eating nothing else but anger. What about fear? You can develop a taste for it too! Why not add a side of judgement, just to look smart. Eventually children learn to eat conditioned and processed thoughts that are ultimately poisonous and slowly kill them, but like anything done over time, tolerance builds and eventually crap begins to taste grand.

Energy follows the attention you give something and if you give both fear and anger your primary focus, it stands to reason that you will attract those emotions back into your life. Pretend, therefore, that you acted from both fear and anger and nothing you said was pleasant; that all your thoughts were angry. Who would be attracted to you? What would be the quality of your life? What feelings are going to be consistently reinforced? What is going to continue to feel normal? What reality are you going to create?

Let’s spin this around and pretend that you acted like pure Light, so kind, always happy and respectful of yourself and others? What would you attract? Actually, you would attract everything – both sweet and bitter!! But what do you then choose to engage with, after all true awareness brings choice without judgement, just discernment. Awareness comes from a place of compassion, whereas judgement comes from a place of fear and anger. If you become aware of what drives your thought process and whether your thoughts are genuinely yours or are learnt responses, then you can differentiate with discretionary discernment what resonates for you and what resonates for who you became. You can choose how you think and therefore how you act.

Your elemental nature is that of love. Don’t forget that. If you are acting against your nature, you are pretending to be someone or something else. Awareness means seeing and remembering the truth; a truth that you know deep in your heart; a truth that is part of what you are searching for; an eternal guiding force that can never die, but may have been overlooked as your attention has been diverted.

How do you know you are acting in the right way? Ask yourself – what am I reading? What fills my social media feed? Moreover, if I read about light and consciousness, do I react to the emotional vicissitudes of life from an open and accepting state or from a defensive and protective state? In other words, is there continuity between my thoughts and my actions? This, for me, is the crux of the January 2020 New Moon in Fixed Air.

Everything begins with a thought – “In the beginning was the Word…” Creation first forms and comes into being on the inner planes of your consciousness, beginning with the most ordinary things – a thought, that stimulates your imagination, fuels your emotions and ultimately your actions. But remember, those thoughts are initially INVISIBLE – they cannot neither be seen nor plucked from a tree. The source of your material world therefore lies in the invisible realm of energy. Yet, the prevailing mind-set of our modern culture tends to dismiss the interior dimension of life as being too subjective, neither quantifiable nor evidence based, therefore not consistent or reasonable. Consequently you are not encouraged to listen to, or trust, your inner voice.

“We have to dare to be ourselves, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be.”
May Sarton (1912-1995)

Within you, however, resides a core that remains unaltered by the opinions and beliefs of other people. It is a core that you must tap into if you are going to live your truth. Being true to yourself means you have to trust and follow your inner voice. This can be frightening especially if it leads you away from a path that other’s want you to walk. It may feel that risk is required but really that is an illusion because by listening to your inner guidance system – your intuition – means that you have to get out of your head and listen to your gut.

True freedom comes when you finally realise that you have not made a mistake, nothing in your life is out of place and every state of mind you experience – joy and wonder; despair and loneliness, is part of your path. Despite the pressures to conform and to deny your genius, your inner, inviolate spirit, you are neither broken nor in need of fixing. You are truly unique. No-one living or past shares your unique blueprint. It is yours and yours alone. Therefore you do not need to postpone your participation here until things look the way you thought they would or should. It is not necessary to hold off until certain feelings to be present or for either the right timing, or people, to arrive. You could actually fully step into this world right here and right now. Nothing that is extant within your life is out of place. You are here and now.

I’ve been blessed by the generosity of both my national and international clientele who have supported my work through referrals.

Aside from my client focused work, I am the director of the Blue Rose, with my wife, Karen Morgan, and we host weekly classes (in person in Dublin, Ireland and online), monthly workshops, retreats and embodiments. I was invited to edit and produce the book Transpersonal Astrology: Explorations at the Frontier, by Eric Meyers and Armand Diaz. I have been previously published in the Astrological Journal and the feature writer for Positive Life Magazine, a quarterly holistic magazine in Ireland and on the web.

If I was to describe my work for other astrologers, I would be a humanistic, psycho-spiritually orientated in my practice. My focus within my practice is to support the spiritual and psychological growth of my clients by helping them understand their choices and energetic patterns imbued within the fabric of their being. The merging of both space and time are central focal points of my work and astro-cartography, the focus of my talk on this forum, is a perspective that I see as essential in understanding the process of growth within this plane of consciousness.
