The C*I*A invites you to participate in an inspirational collective ceremony to honor the upcoming Equinox, Mar 20, 16:15 GMT. Not only may we become active co-creators with the cycles of the creative forces, by aligning our energies at the global level, we also have the capacity to elevate the collective vibrational field.

The Equinox is the exact moment that the Sun crosses the equator and results in the approximate equality of the length of days & night across the Earth, heralding a new season of growth and change. The new season depends on your hemisphere.

In the Northern Hemisphere, spring time is ushered in as the equinox marks the birth of the new cycle, when the Sun ingresses into the sign of Aries. In the Southern Hemisphere, the equinox marks the beginning of Autumn, initiating the time when darkness increases and we begin journey towards the time of surrender, death and decay. The exact time of the Equinox varies based upon your location and may be found here:www.timeanddate.com.

With each Hemisphere simultaneously experiencing the opposite seasonal threshold, we are reminded that it is a time to work with the dualities. That we live in a paradoxical Universe, where eventually all polarities must be reconciled. There is no ‘light’ without ‘darkness’, and without the ‘dark’ we would have no understanding of the ‘light’. This is a powerful time to look into initializing energies of our own lives; be it a focus on the masculine/feminine, active/passive, or accepting/rejecting dynamics of our relationship to the world.

The ancients knew the importance and power of marking these cosmic thresholds. They constructed sacred structures that aligned with these significant points in the cycles of the Sun. In today’s complex & fragmented world, it is more important now than ever, that we remember ‘the path’ of honoring and aligning with natural cycles through the heavenly order. Now is the time to work in harmony with the planets and the larger cycles in order to initiate both personal and collective health.

Regardless, of which Hemisphere you reside, the Equinox (and the Solstices) are power points in ‘the turning of the wheel’. They are ‘cosmic gates’ by which, we may attune and align to the universal flow, and explore, deepen and expand our spiritual consciousness.

Northern Hemisphere, Spring Equinox

As the Sun enters Aries in the Northern Hemisphere, we enter the passage into Spring, and we also have the opportunity to experience a personal rebirth. Life is but one continual cycle of death & rebirth, and thus we have many chances to shed parts of our lives that no longer serve and move towards a harmonic resonance with our higher selves & purpose. At this time of renewal, we have completed our Soul journey through the Winter’s descent into the underworld, slayed our internal shadow dragons of the outer world. We are ready to reemerge as the butterfly transformed.

Clarifying our intentions for this next cycle of growth sends enhanced vibrational frequencies into the creative field, which can assist us in manifesting the deeper truths within our heart.

Mission Ceremony suggestions to initiate the rebirth of the light!

Contemplate: What resonates most with your heart? What would like to give ‘birth to’? This could be internal changes, new relationships, jobs, projects, spiritual pursuits.
Set the ‘Vessel’: Carve out some time as close to the moment of the Equinox as possible to create a sacred container. Gather friends and family, or create a solo ritual to give potency to the moment.
Connect with symbols: Bring together representative items of the springtime: flowers, eggs, crystals, candles… Honor the Four Elements by having representations of Fire (candle or bonfire), Water, Air (feathers), Earth (food offerings).
Devise an altar: Create a sanctum of beauty on the Earth, around a fire, or in a special place in your home. Place your items in the space to honor the Four Cardinal directions, following your intuition and personal creativity of that which represents the beauty of this time of new life.
Purify your field: When you are ready to begin your ceremony, burn some incense to purify the space and participants and begin to shift out of the mundane mental space and into the sacred.
Center: Take a few moments to ground your energy if in a circle of people, meditation, singing, visualizing a white protective light surrounding you.
Invoke: Invite the spiritual dimensions, you may use any tradition that resonates (Native American, Pagan, Buddhist). Below-Earth Mother; Above-the Celestial energies. You may also call upon any Deities, Angels, Ancestors or Star family
State Intentions: Begin by verbalizing what you intend for the ceremony: starting with gratitude for life and all of the abundance, and for the healing and transformation that occurred during the time of Winter’s darkness. Then move into sharing your seeds of intention for your rebirth.
Ritual Component: Ritualize your intentions with a symbolic action: planting some flowers; painting some eggs.
Raise & then Release the Power: Drumming, dancing, changing, increasing the energy to a climax.
Centering Communion: Come back to stillness, allowing the energy raised to permeate your being, relaxing into ALL that IS. Bring the ritual to a close by changing OM three times.
Conclusion of Ritual: Give thanks to all the elements, Deities, directions you have called forth and releasing them.
Integrate: Internalize the elements by celebrating with a Spring time feast!

Southern Hemisphere, Autumn Equinox

At the Autumn Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere as the Sun enters the sign of Aries, this marks the time of harvest where we celebrate abundance and the fruits of our labors from the previous season of growth and expansion. It also marks the start of the diminishing of the light with the transition from Summer to Fall and the beginning of our journey into the depth of Winter.

Just as the trees and flowers go through the natural process of death and decay, so too we on a Soul level experience a time of energetic descent into the deeper aspects of our being. This process is the invitation to withdraw the prevailing output of our energies, slowing down and drawing our focus inward, in order to invoke a time of more reflection and evaluation of that which has exhausted itself and is in need of change and surrender.

The embracing and releasing of our shadow aspects is extremely powerful during this descent, that these elements may be composted to become potent ingredients that supports a powerful rebirth when the time of the Spring Equinox arrives. This “hero’s journey” into the underworld we also have the opportunity to cultivate wisdom and courage, and our capacity to kindle our ‘inner light’ to see us through.

Mission Ceremony suggestions to embrace the time of darkness:

Contemplate: Acknowledge the abundance of creation that has unfolded in your life during the season of growth. Next evaluate the areas of your life you might like to find healing, separation, or release from.
Set the vessel: Carve out some time as close to the moment of the Equinox as possible to create a sacred container. Gather friends and family, or create a solo ritual.
Gather symbols: Bring together representative items of the fall harvest time; leaves, gourds, corn, pumpkins, baskets. Honor the Four Elements by having representations of Fire (candle or bonfire), Water, Air (feathers), Earth (food offerings).
Devise an Altar: Inspired by beauty, on the Earth, around a fire, or in a special place in your home. Place your items in the space to honor the Four Cardinal directions, following your intuition and personal creativity of that which represents the beauty of this time of new life.
Purify the Field: When you are ready to begin your ceremony, burn some incense to purify the space and participants and begin to shift out of the mundane mental space and into the sacred.
Center: Take a few moments to ground your energy, if in a circle of people, meditation, singing, visualizing a white protective light surrounding you.
Invocation: Invoke the spiritual dimensions, you may use any tradition that resonates (Native American, Pagan, Buddhist). Below-Earth Mother, Above-the Celestial energies. You may also call upon any deities, angels, ancestors or star family.
State Intention: Begin by stating your Intention for the ceremony; starting with gratitude for the abundant time of harvest and all of your blessings. Then move into sharing from your heart, that which you wish to heal, release, or surrender to in this descent into the time of darkness.
Ritual Component: Ritualize your intentions with a symbolic action: burn your list of elements you wish to release into the fire, or burn it carefully over a small flame and place into a bowl to disintegrate.
Raise and then Release the Power: Drumming, dancing, changing, increasing the energy to a climax.
Centering Communion: Come back to stillness, allowing the energy raised to permeate your being, relaxing into ALL that IS. Bring the ritual to a close by chanting OM three times.
Conclusion of Ritual: Give thanks to all the elements, deities, and directions you have called forth, releasing them.
Integrate: Internalize the elements by celebrating with a Fall time feast!
