C*I*A’s Celestial Secrets Retreat – October 2018

with Agent 25 Gil Dwyer

Celestial Secrets -Empowering Evolution

The Celestial Secrets Retreat was advertised as: Not just an event, but a complete journey! This was another C*I*A retreat that I will remember as rejuvenating, stimulating and transforming, and where I had many meaningful exchanges with other astrology lovers.

Images of the Sun, warmth and starry skies were front of mind, when the idea of holding a C*I*A Astrology Retreat in Northern New South Wales was discussed at the close of the last retreat at Healesville. On reflection the retreat was being held with Venus retrograding through Scorpio, and with Mercury, Jupiter and, for the first few days, the Moon all in Scorpio. Significantly Mercury was opposing Uranus as part of a fixed cross with the Nodes. The weather was in the final analysis somewhat fitting. We were indeed retreating in Scorpio’s Cave.

Stepping off the plane at the Gold Coast Airport on the way to the retreat, I walked into a wall of water. And yet I didn’t realise just how pervasive the rain was to be over the total duration of the retreat. I believe it rained 24 hours a day for the entire four days. Here we were in the healing setting of a relaxing spa, tucked away at the base of Mount Wollumbin (aka Mount Warning) and bordering the sub-tropical rainforest that forms part the United Nations World Heritage Listed Gondwana Rainforest. Mount Wollumbin is one of Australia’s most sacred and significant mountains, formed from a volcano plug some 20 million years ago. This was indeed a timeless place.

C*I*A Professional Chef Agent 57, Peta Santos had prepared the first of many wonderful meals for us and it was great to engage our Venusian senses so early in the retreat. We got straight down to business on the first night of the retreat with an opening session by our keynote presenter, fresh from the South of France. Laura Boomer Trent studied with His Holiness, at the Dalai Lama’s ‘Tibetan Medical & Astro Science Institute’ in India and works at integrating ancient Eastern healing arts: Tibetan, Chinese and Indian – astrology, yoga and tantra – with western astrology and modern quantum meta-physics. This was a wonderful segue from our previous retreat during which Starryteller Gemini Brett had invited us to relate astrology directly to the sky. This retreat had featured Jupiter in Scorpio (fittingly beginning when Jupiter was at 3 degrees of Scorpio, where retrograde Venus was to make its star point on 27 October). Our focus on expansive Jupiter in Scorpio at the last retreat had included some serious star gazing. Fittingly this time retrograde Venus had us reflecting inward aided by sacred geometry lights within an octagon dome, while the sky was covered in thick cloud the pouring rain was resetting the balance of the relatively parched land.

Laura worked on embodying the astrology, through breath work and meditative practice. A common thread from the previous Australian C*I*A Astrology Retreat was the increasing focus on the fundamental role of sacred geometry in astrology. This was further developed by JAIN 108 and Agent 12 Julija Simas. There were no flat earthers here, and the evidence was all around us that we were privy to some mind expanding ancient and rediscovered cosmic intelligence.

In her opening Laura described the cosmic dance between Mother Earth and the luminaries including the Lunar Nodes, referring to the latter’s electromagnetic resonance. Enlightenment or the potential ‘awakened heart-mind’ was to be achieved through combining the wisdom light or voltage of the Solar Spirit with the current of the Soul Moon. Over the course of the four days she explored many different systems and their common threads. She was intent on furthering our understanding of the difference between Soul and Spirit and how they come together to create the peace, love and harmony of the heart-mind. The next day was fully occupied with an exploration of the Soul Contract via the natal Moon. We also did some meditation and breath work, and were brought back to the essential link between breath and life. Many of us will be left with an increased consciousness of which nostril is dominant on awakening. In her final presentation on Sunday Laura compared Western, Tibetan, Chinese and Vedic techniques for determining simultaneous immortality and impermanence. This seemed particularly relevant to me as I had just minutes before learnt of the death of a fairly extraordinary person I had encountered.

On Friday night, gemologist and astrologer Agent 115 Lynne Smith took us on a journey with The Healing Power of Crystals. In contrast to the common Sun sign driven approach to crystals her work is based on the ancient wisdom of astrology. Lynne focused on the connection between the planets and the chakras, emphasising the power (for better or worse) of wearing crystals She described how gems are used to provide electromagnetic balance and advocated using them to reinforce strengths in the chart after assessment of the ascendant ruler, exalted and favourable planets and planets in rulership.

On Saturday after a discussion of Koshas and the elements we broke into smaller groups led by some of the Agents to explore each other’s chart applying the take home messages of Laura’s talks. These opportunities to get to know other participants through the joys and challenges of their charts are always precious and this was no exception.

Louise Senior (Agent 126) is a multi- disciplined teacher, tarot reader and energy worker and Usui Reiki Master. In the absence of Agent 29, who was unable to join us, Louise led us on a Guided Meditation based on the Isis Oracle Deck by Alana Fairchild and specifically the card Temple of Lapis Lazuli. We were later to learn that Lapis is associated with Saturn, which at that time was being sextiled by Mercury, and the base chakra.

With no formal workshops set for the afternoon it was time for some of us to indulge in the offerings of the retreat centre including the hydrotherapy sauna, steam room and spa, magnesium plunge pool, and/or massage or organic body treatment. It was wonderful that all this was available without any chlorine or other nasties.

After another magnificent dinner it was time to enter the Sacred Medicine Wheel for some experiential astrology with Agent 91 Paie Haagsma. This session lived up to its promise of bringing planetary energies to life, as deeply transformational and insightful playtime. I found it especially revitalising both through exploring a part of my chart I find difficult to understand and in bearing witness to the dilemmas and astrological narratives of others. This was indeed shamanic work.

On Sunday, a day assigned as Visitor’s Day at our retreat, included a 2 hour talk by special guest, Mathematician, and Sacred Geometrist Jain 108. Many travelled from  afar, from Brisbane, Byron, Gold Coast, Mullumbimby and surrounds, even through the treacherous rain and flooding creeks and roads, where over 50 people attended. It felt more like  a festival in the special Gymea’s fabulous hexagonal room than a retreat, with a few trade tables where one could buy Jain’s Books,  and models, Lynn Smith’s gems and jewels and C*I*A T-shirts and memberships.

First up Agent 12, Julija Simas is the founder, motivator and designer of the C*I*A.. Building on the sacred geometry themes of the weekend, Julija took us through the Divine Rhythm of the 19 month Venus cycle and its fractal Star/Flower unfolding. This was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the Venus cycle through its morning star, evening star and retrograde cycle This included a Venus Star Point exercise where we traced the pentagram of our own pre-birth Venus star cycle. In a late session we explored our lunar phase, as a way of gleaning more information about how Venus behaves and operates in our natal chart.r

Next, well known Astrologer and Psychoanalyst Agent 22 Maggie Kerr shared her direct and insightful approach to astrological readings addressing the fusion of astrology and therapy. She asks the question: If the Soul has an agenda, how does it program the psyche? Honing in on the Moon’s sign, house and aspects she uses a technique for simply diagnosing the ‘Soul’s Code’ thus cutting straight to the key ‘stuff’ of our psyche. She described her use of tools from psychotherapy to re-program the unconscious patterns that have limited us in the past so that our Soul can nurture our Sun’s creative ego and liberate our highest potential.

JAIN 108 showered us with astounding examples of the intersection of Sacred Geometry and Astrology. After sharing his extraordinary journey into sacred geometry he covered many topics including the Divine Phi Proportion, the significance of the 137.5 degree Golden Angle, and Magic Squares and how they are attributed to the planets. He concluded that Perhaps this mathematical Investigation is to guide us not to focus on the external geometrics that have been derived from such number patternings but rather to embed such potent …….frequencies into our field, our aura, our consciousness and into our Hearts, to become a bridge between that which is Above and that which is Below.

In her final presentation on Sunday Laura compared Western, Tibetan, Chinese and Vedic techniques for determining simultaneous immortality and impermanence. This seemed particularly relevant to me as I had just minutes before learnt of the death of a fairly extraordinary person I had encountered.

On Monday morning Julija continued her previous Venus Star lecture to include Venus’ phases, showing how her various apparitions, speed, light and underworld journeys add to the meaning of our personal Venus’, what we attract into our loves and relationships adding to our previous understanding of our Venus’s by house, sign and aspect.

On Monday morning Tina Mews, professional counsellor, astrology teacher and astrological columnist for the Nimbin Goodtimes gave a presentation on Soul Astrology and Australian Bush Flower Essences. The Essences are one of nature’s gentle ways of enabling healing, which can be beneficial for clearing lunar patterns and healing energetic imprints from early, deeply seated energetic imprints.

New C*I*A Agent  59, Tina Mews,  professional counsellor, astrology teacher and astrological columnist for the Nimbin Goodtimes gave a presentation on Soul Astrology and Australian Bush Flower Essences. The Essences are one nature’s gentle ways of enabling healing, which can be beneficial for clearing lunar patterns and healing energetic imprints from early, deeply seated energetic imprints.
Fittingly to end our time at Gymea Retreat, Tina showed us the meaning of the Gymea Lily, prevalent in the area, with massive Gymea’s growing all over the property. The Gymea comes with a message which fitted well with the weekend and all that we would take home with us.

“I am now passionately following and fulfilling my life destiny. I am now equally expressing my power and humility!” Ian White from Australian Bush Flower essences.

We finished with this message from the Gymea Lily, the place, the wonderful people and inspiring content, heartfelt goodbyes were exchanged, and then with the efficiency and hands on work which is the Virgo C*I*A, we did the final clean and then got everyone off safely to the airport with the  many Celestial Secrets firmly planted in the hearts and minds.
