Gemini - 21st May - 21st June

twins

After the second Scorpio full Moon in a month we can lighten up a bit with the Sun moving through Gemini. We can loosen up after being held captive one way or another over the a last month, either by hard work, money issues or supposed love ones. Gemini brings instant relief to the burdens and stress of the last month and moves us toward a more cheery and playful outlook on things.

Gemini  is the sign aware of the relationships that exist between all people, places, and things. Gemini focuses our attention on potentials and possibilities, free of enmeshments and messy emotions. Gemini is the part of the personality that seeks to experience and understand itself in all sorts of environments, away from the paddock of Taurus or the lair of Scorpio.  Gemini broadens the mind and expands our sense of connectedness to much more. As one of the  mutable signs it is always in a constant state of flux,  gathering  experiences, relating and absorbing a myriad of ideas from the atmosphere it breathes in.

Gemini seeks to find and be around like minded people and groups. The brotherhood, the sisterhood, equals, peers come to the fore with Sun in Gemini. Are we seeing or spending enough time with those that truly understand us with whom we can stand on equal ground? Gemini the sign of duality and polarity, seeks out to find the twin, the twin soul, the other half of self, or the shadow striving for wholeness.

Gemini rules the arms, hands and fingers. What we touch, what we feel connected too, how far we reach out to seek out life experience, how far we reach into the atmosphere we find ourselves in are all about the Geminian experience. Gemini also rules the lungs and breathing, indicative of what we breathe into ourselves as part of the atmosphhere and environments we absorb and learn from. Not surprisingly Gemini also rules the nerves, when we sense that there is too much going on, too much to absorb and take in, we get nervous and uneasy, we are not trusting of our environments. Like curious monkeys with their hands, Gemini energy grabs at the world keeping itself informed and endlessly curious. Chest infections, bronchitis, breathing problems all point to Gemini and the need to ask the questions, what am I taking in, what's in the enviroment that is not especially good for me? Injuries to hands, broken arms, and nervousness also relate to self in the enviroment, perhaps being too curious, poking or probing what one perhaps shouldn't, or stepping out of ones league.

Understand this well before the ruler of Gemini , Mercury makes all go haywire in the Gemini part of the Zodiacal Department store, the communication zone. From the 27th May expect a message over the loudspeaker -

" Attention customers - Mercury has just gone retrograde in it's own sign of Gemini and is squaring Uranus. Please ensure mobile phones, computers and emails are switched off. Make sure you've sent off and collected all you need for the next 3 weeks and try and get out into the country for fresh air and a good walk and get those lungs working. We look forward to seeing you in 3 weeks after June the 20th for more Gemini fun."

Retrograde - meaning that Mercury getting closer to the earth appears to go backward for just over three weeks. During this time it passes inbetween the Sun and Earth at what is called an inferior conjunction. Being closest to earth in it's cycle, brings Mercurial and Geminian issues to the foreground. So do yourself a favour, get orgainzed, sort out the desk and clear out your email .

On the other side of the Sun opposite Mercury we have Venus closing in on a superior conjunction meaning it's as far away from earth as possible. Both planets straddle a new Moon in Gemini on the 4th June at 13deg 34" Gemini , emphasising all those issues around our like minded friends, who are our friends and why are they our friends. With Mercury still square Uranus, expect a few unexpected phone calls, out of the blue, from the past, re -connections to friends and acquaintances good and bad, even siblings that you thought you left behind long ago.

Venus, Mercury and the Sun are exact in the same degree of 17 plus - Gemini on the 8th June. The Sabian symbol for this degree 18 Gemini is:

"Two chinese men talking chinese in a western crowd "-

explaining what this triple conjunction may signify. Stick to what and who you know and who you're comfortable with and with those that understand you. Careful that you hear the whole story of situations and dealings with others. You may feel left out or out of your league, speak the language you know and understand, with those that understand you.

The Gemini month ends wth Pluto opposite the Sun at 29 degrees Gemini and Sagittarius, with Mercury stationing direct the same day (about to go forward again). If you haven’t learnt or shifted something about attracting what it is you need in your life right know, more money, more friends, new job, could be anything (as this happens in different areas depending on your own personal astrology) - you no doubt know what it is anyway, then the end of Gemini finds you drained and exahausted and like someone has zapped your of your potentials and possibilities, but if you've listened to the clues, joined the dots, and stuck with what you know best and are most capable of no doubt you will feel better equipped and more empowered to face the next challenges and the month ahead.

Taurus Monthly Mundi –– 20 April to 21 May 2008

Taurus is a determined, practical and fact-driven energy.  What IS overrides what may be.  Taurus is the total realist believing only what can be seen, tasted, touched, heard, smelt.  The sixth sense for Taurus is the most undeveloped , if at all.  Taurus the earthling sign only focused on the tangible and physical life and living on this planet.  Outside this reality is not of interest, because to Taurus it does not exist. The sign of the Bull is real and practical driven by the need to get what they want. The Bull is not inclined to give up their drive, when they see red they charge, they possess incredible endurance and perserverance to go for their wants and needs. Ruled by primal Venus, Taurus is most attuned to the senses - food, sensual touch, cold hard cash ( probably the smell) soulful sounds and the need to find themselves surrounded by beautiiful and aesthetically pleasing things. This is the motivation behind Taurus.

The Taurean urge is to feel secure, content and satisfied, the determination and ability to work hard is unprecedented. Once accomplished Taurus feels and knows it deserves the rewards of earthly delights. The trusty Bulls primal instincts are what we can call on when we need to find food, water or money or ground ideas that were initiated in the previous sign of Aries. As a fixed-earth sign, Taurus represents one's attachemnet to material possessions.

Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love , relationships, pleasures and also of the physical senses. In this time of Taurus we are called to focus on the quality of our relationships and how personally rewarding they are, we focus on our work and the hard work ahead still to be done and we question what it is we are working so hard toward. Taurus rules the neck and shoulders, a place we feel the most stress and strain due to hard work and tension. Reward yourself with a massage and get some relief.Taurus reminds us of the simple and basic needs of life, are we happy and content with food, water, warmth, love, shelter - in this society and economically driven world - probably not. With Venus and Taurus ruling this time of year - we think of money, greed, excess and waste, huge issues in our modern societies. We all need to work to stay alive and protect our own little plots, which over the last few months are being threatened more than ever, as mortage rates rise, housing prices escalate, the availablity of rental properties dwindle and investments and market economies stand on shaky ground. This is a time to be careful, re-assess where we are all headed and what we are working towards, as all the superficial and superflous needs for survival are in for a major overhaul over the coming years as Pluto continues it's journey through Capricorn challenging all of societies establishments. Perhaps there is a way to steer our work habits and money focussed societies to be more culturally not economically driven.

The Sun's entry into Taurus is closely followed by a Full Moon in Scorpio. Here we are challenged with what we need - Taurus, - with what we desire and expect from someone else - Scorpio and the lenghts that we go to get this. The Scorpio energy brings up partnerships, from intimate marriage type partnerships, what we own with someone else, all the giving and taking, but also business partnerships. What needs an overhaul, where do you need to give in and not be so possesive, and where do you need to take control so things aren't taken off you. Tensions arise in relationships and the focus is on money - who's in charge of it and how it's spent. The stage is set for a showdown. Expectations from both parties involved run high, too high, and such demands are unlikely to be met. With Scorpio energy involved there is an undercurrent of emotion that makes everything more dramatic and intensified than it really needs to be.. By all means take others into consideration but make sure you don't give into threats and bullies and people that seem more in control than you, stand up for yourself, play the Bull , be stubborn and don't budge, the Scorpio energy demands that , but Taurus energy and Venus ask you to hold your ground and not give in this time.

During this month of Taurus Pluto, the Sun and Saturn form a tight Grand Trine in the earth element, an energy that keeps repeating over the next few months as the Moon, and now the Sun and Venus transit this Taurus point. We had Earth hour during a time of a grand Earth Trine - (Three planets in Earth signs, in strong aspect to each other), emphasising the focus on the Earth, the crisis and the solutions and the responsibility with the use of our resources - our global Earthly Delights- that need to be looked at as precious, not just economic commodities. With the grand Earth trine we also recently had (in Australia) the 2020 Summit, when the Sun first enetered Taurus, a forum over two days was organized in Canberrra to discuss and plan getting real about the future. There was talk of an Australian Republic, with 1000 of our most influential Australians present from film stars to rock stars, a positive sign of this grand earth trine energy.

When Venus entered Taurus - and sparked off this Earth trine again, we were confronted with the news of the hurricane "Nargis" in Burma. A huge diaster, displacing 1 million people and killing tens of thousands and we aren't sure of the numbers yet. It has brought up many Global issues again, the power and control of military regimes, help and aid that we all jump to in times of disaster , when in the background we are still blowing each other up, and then Burmas refusal to take aid from the USA. Again many issues about trust and power within the global govenments come to the fore, reflecting Mars opposite Jupiter in Cancer and Capricorn. We will stand our ground regardless of the consequences and will not give in! We have our own just reasons to protect ourselves and our country ! Mars and Jupiter living it out on the world stage.

What's mine and what's yours continues and ends the month of Sun in Taurus, when a very rare second Full Moon in Scorpio occurs just before the Sun moves into Gemini at 29 deg Tautus/Scorpio, defining a very intense month. The bigger picture, the world stage, reflects the inner tsunamis or hurricanes that may be happening in your own little world, confront them, sit with them, work out what they are about. Most of all stand your ground like a stubborn bull, protect what's yours and what you believe in and suffer the consequences, because if you do find yourself in situations that are making you boil, something must be done and released. Like the primal urge for sex and orgasm, Taurus with Scorpio asks for the current dynamic to be worked on and there is no giving up until the job has been done.

The Sabian symbols for the second Full Moon in Scorpio on the 20th May is :

The Sun - "A peacock parading on an ancient lawn" and The Moon "The halloween jester "

One deserves and is allowed all that they need and desire or have inherited - but something is messing with what's yours and what you belong to, perhaps there is a need to lighten up - none of us feel as secure as we'd like to at this moment and feel or are more aware than ever as to how we are being messed with. Like all of astrology and it's symbolic lanaguage there are two sides to everything, the shadow and the light, the good and the bad, what we are conscious of and what we are not conscious of, present and active in every sign, aspect and planet all of the time.

To utilise astrological understanding is to recognize this, we can't predict everything and never will. How much rides on our intentions and will and how much is left in the arms of fate, is the age old question. I am inclined to think it is what we truly believe and comprehend as truth that ultimately creates our world. The scorpionic "Halloween Jester" asks us to plunge more daringly and questioningly, have a laugh at ourselves and provoke and prod the bull and our comfort zones, challenge all that is the status quo and consensus reality that prevents us all from moving forward.

Monthly Mundi – Pisces – 19 February to 20 March 2008

A passive and sensitive sign, Pisces the fish is the dreamer. Imagine there's no heaven - it's not possible for a fish, who swims in a world where all things bright, light and beautiful live. You're living in your own 'private idaho' Pisces, and lovin' it! They may be sensitive, dreamy, starry-eyed and seemingly away with the fairies (and they are!) but they are also incredibly skilled, intuitive, capable, canny (like Radar from "Mash"), stylish, great actors, adored by children and live to a ripe old age with faculties intact. Only when they succumb to a life of alcohol, drugs, delusion and self-pity do they check out early. When the Sun is in the sign of Pisces, you may feel more spiritually inclined and more likely to pick up a pencil to doodle, a brush to paint, play a CD, watch a band, sing, join a musical group, act in a play, be inspired by the simplest or most complex of things. Life takes on a hazy glow and we feel less inclined to work, even though work piles up. Overtime is on the cards, cancelled appointments, misinterpreted remarks, but do not despair simply 'don the walkman' and close your eyes.

In Mundane terms, Pisces rules fishponds, rivers, springs, watermills, water pumps, wells, marshy or watery ground, moats, springs, the ocean, and all places near to water inside or around the house. It also signifies hermitages, monasteries or places of seclusion or retreat.

On a personal level, Pisces rules the feet, dreams, psychic sensitivity, idealism, addiction, and spirituality.

In the Pisces ingress chart, the Sun sits in sextile to Pluto creating a potentially powerful combination. Endurance and perseverance enable projects to forge ahead. The energy is direct, intense, and offers a new standard of professionalism. Fighting for the underdog brings victory and you are able to bring order to chaos. Wherever old patterns stand in the way of progress they will be pushed away with strength and determination.

Jupiter highlights relationships. Either they flourish or flounder. It could be a good time to enjoy each other's company and share some happy time together. Or existing problems may be exaggerated to the point of no return. There's no middle ground with Jupiter - everything gets blown up in a really good way or a really bad way. To Jupiter, it's all good, and the bigger the better.

February 19, Mercury turns direct opening up the channels of communication once again. If you’ve been suffering under Mercury’s trickery you can now breathe a sigh of relief. Make those calls, send out emails and sign new contracts. Mercury won’t interfere again for a while. Mercury stands solid and stationary in opposition to the Moon. The Moon is in proud and fun-loving Leo and Mercury is in erratic Aquarius. The Moon demands attention and Mercury speaks for the greater good. One is personal and the other is not. A higher expression may be to take pride in what you do and avoid seeking attention. Good work usually attracts praise without seeking it. And besides, if we give ourselves fully then the appreciation we seek comes from within.  Reason and emotion will come at loggerheads sometime this month. Emotional arguments may erupt out of nowhere or conversations explore the depths of soul. Any childish displays will be met with harsh logic, and fixed opinions may be ridiculed. When all else fails, withdraw and get in touch with your feelings. Play with them, bask in their eternal sunshine, write yourself a love letter and understand how you feel about yourself. Whatever happens on the outer reflects the inner world.

On February 20/21 there is a total lunar eclipse. The area of visibility can be seen here: http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmono/TLE2008Feb21/TLE2008Feb21.html

A lunar eclipse occurs at the time of the full moon when the Sun and Moon are in opposition to each other.  They are at the point of maximum stress and represent the culmination of events. The lunar eclipse is therefore a catalyst for dramatic change based on previous experience and what was seeded at the New Moon solar eclipse on February 7. The February 20/21 eclipse occurs at the 2nd degree of Virgo. The Sabian symbol proposes that a liberating ordeal will arise from the energy of this eclipse. Wisdom and compassion will be born from the experience of suffering and isolation. Sounds difficult but it also holds the potential for enormous growth. If you have a planet or angle at 2 degrees Virgo then this eclipse will affect you personally.

Mars forms an applying trine to the Node bringing in activities that require cooperation with others. A great deal can be done when people join together for a purpose. With the other influences, there may be stressful times ahead but through negotiation much can be achieved.

In the first week of March Mars enters Cancer and opposes Pluto. The energy is intense, obsessive, extreme, highly protective, reactive and forceful. The words homeland, security, overlord, control, and discipline come to mind. Possible manifestations of this powerful alignment might be disputes over territories and borders, or issues of control that require strategic and careful negotiation to manage or resolve.

Venus slides into Pisces March 13 where she is very comfortable and able to express her desire to merge. Relationships take on an especially rosy glow. Pisces encourages gentle interaction with others and the world at large. All things inspiring will blossom, including artistic and musical projects. Theatre, movies and art galleries also appeal. Indulge in the finer things of life that allow your spirit to soar.

From mid-March to the beginning of June new and exciting opportunities arise that break up the usual routine. Intuition is heightened and may override when logic fails to prove useful. Innovative solutions to legal wrangles will miraculously appear. Study, travel and scientific pursuits will open the way forward to new discoveries and relationships. Expect the unexpected and grab opportunities as they arise.

We are still finding our way with Pluto in Capricorn. In Australia, the new Prime Minister has made an official apology to the native people for the pain and suffering caused by earlier governments. The day was filled with emotion and extremely well received. As well, the Rudd administration ratified the Kyoto Protocol on December 3, 2007, which will come into force at the end of March 2008.  Both actions pave the way for a new beginning that clearly reflects Pluto in Capricorn.

The Heavens in March

We enter March with the Sun in the sign of the two fish – Pisces – one fish swims toward divine illumination the other struggles on the material plane. One fish seeks deep emotional connections, infinite love and divine attraction, while the other fish seeks freedom and escape from emotional bounds. We all carry Pisces energy  somewhere and the challenge we face is to make sure not to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of others, but to make sure we give ourselves enough freedom to swim where we find waters that heal, calm, soothe and inspire.

On March 4th the planet Mars changes signs from restless Gemini to watery Cancer and opposes Pluto in Capricorn.  Martian energy is tempered and weak in the sign of Cancer but builds frustrations and anger that are dangerous if not relinquished. With Pluto opposite at least there is an outlet and Mars gets ready for battle with the promise of renewal and regeneration for the area of life most affected, be that at work, in relationship, with our families, the builder or even the greedy banks.  The Mars-Pluto combination seeks to confront us with our shadow sides as every battle is not one sided. Careful of the approach you take dealing with some of the issues at hand. We must stand by our convictions and perhaps relive some of the unresolved issues that have been hanging around since Christmas and the start of the year. A Venus, Moon and Neptune conjunction in Aquarius add to the friction, keeping emotionally detached from the situation will help in dealing with this difficult time and as odd as it may seem, being a bit more compassionate and caring about the other in the equation could help enormously.

On the 8th we can celebrate a new Moon in Pisces, a time to remember dreams real and unreal, redeem some of life’s lost pleasures and honour soulful connections. However, this new Moon is closely aligned with Uranus, the planet of change and disruption which gives us all the strong urge to let go of things, people, situations that seem to be holding us back from moving forward.  We need to be able to breathe and make it for ourselves. Together with the Pluto -Mars energies this new Moon is about radical change, new ideas and forging ahead re-inspired and riding on the new wave that you have just created.
By March 13th Venus moves into Pisces closely followed by Mercury, what we find is a stream of hope and faith that help to temper some of the more radical influences confronting us. Venus adores swimming around in Pisces, loves and is in love with love, here she is the ultimate romantic, but also strong and powerful and in good aspect with the weakened Mars. We are reminded that it is better to make love not war. We may find ourselves yearning for the many unrequited loves and passions that we may have lost. It is a time to dig deep, deep down into our deepest inner resources with truth and complete honesty to source and understand what we truly yearn for. With Mercury also in Pisces we are asked to use our sixth sense, keep our third eye open and attune ourselves to many channels as our minds search for the hidden, the unsaid. Be perceptive and use your imagination to help guide you.

As the Sun moves into Aries on the 20th March heralding the Equinox, the Suns journey through the zodiac begins again. This zero point of Aries in astrological tradition is the time of year when we judge the flavour of the year ahead and what is to come. The Sun squares Pluto and Mars and we can foresee much transformation and renewal and new ground being broken in many areas of life, and in the bigger global picture. The full Moon on the 22nd makes up a complete square in the heavens; the energy is inescapable and intense, but fortunately short lived as the Moon moves away from this no way out situation. A glimpse at your circumstances on this day will give you a good idea of what needs most attention in your life right now, again truthful, honest, deeply resourced answers is what we all are looking for. The focus is on family, partners, self and the deep inner self and how we can manage to put them all together.

March finishes when Jupiter and the Moon align in Capricorn, high in the sky before sunrise on the 30th and 31st well worth getting up that little bit earlier for. Catch a glimpse as Jupiter big and bright reminds us to think big and reach high to seek a meaningful and more fulfilling year.

Monthly Mundi - Aquarius - 21 jan - 19 February 2008

When the Sun is in Aquarius it is a good time to look to the future for inspiration and make plans to clear out the old and bring in the new.  It is fitting after making plans for the New Year to reassess and readjust plans to fit in with our long-term goals. Aquarius is broad in approach and considers the effects on all levels, adjusting to cover all bases. Sometimes, Aquarians methods are unorthodox but often ahead of its time, aware of the future before it unfolds. In Mundane terms, Aquarius rules local authorities, societies, trade unions, groups, adoptions and friends of the Nation. On a personal level, Aquarius is about friendships, relationships with groups of people, and hopes and dreams.

This year, the Sun is accompanied by Chiron, Mercury, Neptune and the North Node. This combination of planets allows for the healing of groups through compassionate negotiation. Opportunities for new insights and understanding bring powerful and positive changes to way we relate to each other. Using praise rather than criticism will instil confidence and help in all matters. Listen to others, follow your intuition and pepper it all with logic; the combination will allow for calm interactions and clearer decision-making. Exploring new avenues of communication can improve reputations as long as it is handled with sensitivity. Under these conditions, the relationship of allies should improve, plus new friendships and treaties will bring positive changes.

Saturn and Jupiter form an applying trine offering a balance between consolidation and expansion, security and exploration, making it easier to access resources. New plans require particular care and attention to every detail to bring goals and visions to fruition. Opportunities for success abounds as long as you trust in yourself and your ability to reach your objectives, plus be open to compromise. Then others will show you respect for your prior achievements and innate abilities and join you on your adventure. Business dealings and professional life are highlighted so take the opportunity to show them what you're made of.

On the 26th January Pluto will ingress into Capricorn for the first time and stay there until 14th June (when it retrogrades back into Sagittarius for a final 5 month stint). Pluto is the great transformer. It makes little things big, and big things little, like a reverse-cycle Jupiter except that Pluto is a realist and won’t suffer fools. Anything outmoded, unnecessary, overblown or underestimated gets thrown out, removed, deflated or brought forward, whichever is required. So when Pluto is in Capricorn governments and authority get an overhaul, the world of banks, money and powerful corporations, go through a timely restructuring. Fragmentation is consolidated, and oversized conglomerates are dispersed. Attempts at creating World Government will occur during Pluto’s 16 years in Capricorn, most especially when it joins with Saturn in 2020. As for now, we will see glimpses of a new future where every Nation must learn to co-operate, share, pool resources and be held accountable for current decisions and past mistakes. Some will try to resist and remain separate but the pressure to conform will be overpowering. Ultimately we are in a phase of learning to accept ourselves as global citizens of planet Earth, a planet within a Solar System that belongs to one of many millions of Galaxies in the Universe. Perhaps when Pluto travels through Aquarius we will become regular space travellers, then in Pisces we could become Galactic citizens travelling on beams of light and love.

Mars finally makes an about face from January 31st, having been retrograde since 15th November 2007. While any planet is retrograde a “reversal of fortune” forces us to review the way we process and implement its energy.  It has been a long, slow haul through Cancer and the latter degrees of Gemini driving us all to review strategies and activities that help make our lives more secure. From the 1st February, plans on hold should start to move slowly forward, beginning with active negotiation and picking up pace by the end of February.

Chinese New Year’s Day is easily calculated as the 2nd New Moon after the December (winter) Solstice, and the thirteenth New Moon of the lunar calendar. Chinese astrology is based on a lunar year, and uses a combination of yin/yang, 5 elements and 12 animals, a 60-year cycle in total. The year of the Fire Pig ends and we enter the year of the Earth Rat, with Chinese New Year’ Day falling on Thursday 7th February the day of the New Moon and a Solar annular Eclipse.

The Earth Rat brings the element of Earth and the energy of the Rat together signifying a year of new beginnings and accomplishments. The Rat is the first animal of the chinese zodiac, brave, talented and clever and business minded. The Rat has the ability ro detach, is unafraid of the future and adaptable to change. The Earth element adds stability, practicality, prudence and logic to the opportunistic Rat.Together they achieve great things, being able to hold on to positive goals and make intense plans, especially in regard to enviromental issues, political shifts and revolutions that benefit mankind. For all of us this is a year of hard work, activity and renewal.

2008 numerologically is a number 1 year - another true begining, together with the Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, the onset of the year of the Earth Rat, this February the 7th, let us all focus on new beginings , with our goals for the future, clear, determined and decisive and our visions for humanity and earth more attuned to true Aquarian ideals - which are ultimately humanitarian and collective.
